Taking a break from it all

Recently I headed home from Manchester and went back to my family (and cats) for a lovely, much needed week of peace and quiet. I've been having loads of problems with noisy neighbours for the past few weeks, so lack of sleep and a huge amount of stress over an important uni deadline were really getting to me and I knew I just needed to go and clear my head - as well as needing a bit of silence to be able to get my work done! Whilst I was home I made the most of our pretty surroundings and went on a few long walks, even getting up early one morning to go and picture the birds.

Now I know bird watching ain't the coolest hobby in the world, but I have to admit it was really refreshing to picture something other than lipsticks or skincare products for a change. As you probably know by now anyway, I absolutely adore animals and I've always loved getting out to see the wildlife so this kind of thing naturally really appeals to me, but if it's not something you would usually do I would definitely recommend giving it a try! You'll be surprised by how much you can see if you just have a little patience, I waited about 10 minutes for that heron to catch a fish and my back was aching as I was trying to keep the camera in place and not mess up the lens focus, but eventually my determination paid off (although I do feel really bad for the fish)!

I hope you don't mind this different kind of post, it's a one off anyway but I thought it would be nice to share these photos on here. Would you ever consider dabbling in a bit of wildlife photography?

  4. Urm, bird watching totally is the coolest hobby! Well I think so anyway. I don't manage to get any good photos anymore with a broken dslr thats over 4 years old but it doesn't stop me feeding, watching and talking to the little guys.

    Best wishes, Danielle xo
